JOB SUMMARY:

This position engages in a variety of complex accounting clerical duties using automated systems.

JOB DUTIES: 

-          Perform remittance processing functions including handling incoming mail, reviewing and batching tax reports, cashiering tax payments, reconciling daily work, and creating electronic deposits using specialized software

-          Maintain accounting transactions on employer accounts in the UI Tax computer system

-          Review and process adjustments, assessments, and waivers, reconcile tax report filings and make necessary corrections

-          Work assigned periods taking incoming telephone calls from employers

-          Process returned items, assist with the monthly bank reconciliation, issuing FUTA Recertification, and processing refund requests

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

-          Governmental accounting practices and procedures

-          Remittance processing practices and procedures

-          Financial records maintenance

-          Personal computers and software

-          Customer service techniques

Skill in:

-          Researching, analyzing and interpreting financial data

-          Using spreadsheets, organizing and prioritizing work assignments

-          Verbal and written communication and problem resolution

-          Data entry

Ability to:

-          Learn and adhere to department policies, procedures and regulations

-          Adapt to changing priorities

-          Focus on repetitive tasks

-          Establish and maintain good working relationships with other personnel

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: 

-          Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees

-          Successfully pass background and reference checks. Employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions
