The Division of Benefits and Medical Eligibility (DBME) is seeking an experienced, detail oriented and highly motived individual to join our team as an Administrative Assistant 1. This position reports to the Appeals Unit Management Team and performs administrative duties to support the office and applies knowledge to the Department, Division Administration and works independently on a variety of projects.


-          Research, monitor, prepare, update reports; follow up on assignments and ensure due dates and timelines are met.

-          Coordinate meetings, schedule trainings; monitor virtual office equipment, travel claims and document numbers.

-          Answer multi-line phones and provide general information.

-          Maintain internal/external customer relations with courtesy and tact Ensure the efficient flow of work and processes.


Knowledge of:

       -    Administrative and clerical procedures; tracking techniques; drafting    correspondence. Knowledge and/or experience with AZTECS and HEA is preferable. 

Skill in:

-          Microsoft word, Excel, Outlook; Office procedures; drafting emails; building and maintaining professional relationships; multi-tasking; problem solving; monitoring; verbal and written communication.

Ability to:

-          Obtain and maintain an Arizona Driver’s license appropriate to the assignment; learn policy, procedures, rules and regulations related to the assignment; establish priorities; perform in a fast paced environment; learn department software applications and mainframe systems; to maintain accurate records; collect and summarize information a variety of information , consider alternatives and reach sound conclusions.

-          Have a current, valid Arizona State issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employee is subject to driver’s license record checks and must maintain an acceptable driving record, valid motor vehicle insurance and registration, and must complete any required training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

-          Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees

-          Be subject to a search of Child Protective Services Central Registry Physical

-          Successfully pass background and reference checks. Employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions

Travel is required for training and meetings, which may require an overnight stay
