The Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as an Assistant Director. Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Supervising four program administrators and indirectly two administrators including daily operations of all programs

- Designing, developing, implementing and evaluation of Arizona’s statewide system of Early Intervention Services (EIS)

- Representing the Division in at numerous policy meetings with the Department, sister agencies in state government, and constituency groups

- Coordinating compliance matters with the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), including annual operational reviews, quality management plans and other contract-related deliverables, and changes in contracts reflecting federal and state policy modifications

- Overseeing long term care, acute care, behavioral health, and State-only services for 39,000 clients through 2,000 staff, including support coordinators, nurses, etc., through a $1.2 billion budget. This includes oversight for State-operated intermediate care facilities for individuals with intellectual disabilities and group homes

- Forecasting and planning needed expansion of services to clients, offices and staff



- Knowledge of federal and state constitutional law and national business practices around serving individuals with developmental disabilities

- Knowledge of state and federal budgetary practices, strategic planning and surveying processes

- Knowledge of the Medicaid Program

- Skill in work management and work leadership

- Analytical thinking and strategic problem solving

- Analyzing a variety of data to identify problems and making determinations regarding concepts and practices in the administration of health care delivery systems

- Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders, diverse individuals, and difficult customers

- Ability to read, comprehend, analyze complex information and make recommendations based on that information

- A combination of education, training and experience in administration or professional experience that equals five years. Demonstrable experience in management of complex programs requiring expertise in analytical thinking and strategic planning. Considerable knowledge of the State’s Medicaid program, AHCCCS and/or Managed Care Organizations is preferred
