The Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services (DERS) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our teams as a UI Audit Supervisor. Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Providing first line supervision of a staff of field auditors responsible for conducting audits and other field investigations of Arizona employers to ensure compliance with State/Federal laws and regulations pertaining to unemployment tax, federally mandated tax avoidance provisions and joint State/Internal Revenue Service questionable tax practices initiatives.

- Exercise professional judgment and discretion to identify employers for audit.

- Work independently in the field, directly with employers, their accountants or other representatives.

- Review on a daily basis all or a sampling of completed audits, investigation assignments for validity, accuracy and timeliness; review production reports and compare auditor and office performance against established goals and objectives.

- Provide instruction to subordinates keeping them apprised of changes to pertinent tax laws, precedent cases, tax section policies, field procedures and audit plan modifications.

- Evaluate staff performance to establish production standards, application of proper work procedure and interaction with employers; counsel audit staff on less than satisfactory performance and provide assistance in areas needing improvement.

- Participate in periodic management meetings; provide input to section management in conjunction with other supervisors to set work standards, policy and field procedures.



- Knowledge of business entities, Corporations, Limited Liability Companies, Partnerships and Proprietorships.

- Accounting systems, audit procedures and Field Audit policies.

- Knowledge of computer systems; both central processing data bases as well as audit specific spreadsheet and word processing applications.

- Able to conduct internet research sites for state and federal regulatory agencies.

- Skills in applying audit procedures, mathematical computation and communications skills.

- Interpersonal skills applied in interview of employers, their representatives or workers.

- Written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to plan work schedule, manage time effectively and meet deadlines.

- Ability to communicate tax provisions to business owners or the public in general.

- Ability to make correct employment and tax determinations.
