JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for front desk duties that include heavy direct client contact handling face-to-face inquiries with the public.  This position works under direct supervision in the application of child support rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and will provide support to Child Support Services staff. 

The person in this position will interview individuals who are parties to the case; analyze and evaluate information received in verbal and written form; research, collect and input all pertinent data to the case. 

DCSS is currently hiring for a Bilingual Child Support Services Officer 1.

JOB DUTIES: 

-          Welcome visitors by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.

-          Direct visitors by maintaining employee and department directories; giving instructions.

-          Maintain security by following procedures; monitoring logbook; issuing visitor badges when necessary.

-          Take payments.

-          Assist or support workshops and special events.

-          Perform other duties as assigned to support case management of the Child Support Services staff, including:

-          Handle establishing new child support cases onto the automated case management system;

-          Order documents, research information, scan/image documents;

-          Investigate and determine the location of non-custodial parents. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

-          Computer software applications such as Microsoft Office, Outlook and Excel.

-          Office equipment such as scanners, copiers and fax machines.

-          Interviewing techniques and investigative procedures.

-          Filing and maintaining records; data entry. 

Skill in:

-          Understanding and meeting performance measures; prioritizing duties and meeting timelines.

-          Research and investigating.

-          Customer service with heavy public and phone contact.

-          Effective oral and written communications to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with a diverse group (clients, co-workers, attorneys, and other court and legal system staff).

Ability to:

-          Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license.

-          Work independently with established guidelines and follow set policies and procedures as related to job duties to ensure timeliness, data reliability and accuracy.

-          Apply rules and regulations to varying situations; use sound judgment; communicate effectively.

-          Determine appropriate documents/correspondence to notify custodial and non-custodial parents of pending actions.

-          Maintain professionalism when interacting with consumers and staff at all levels; work as a team member.

-          Take and pass, pursuant to Department standards, a Bilingual Spanish conversation test, as well as have the ability to communicate competently in English and Spanish (written and verbal).

SELECTIVE PREFERENCE(S):

-          Preferred/Ideal candidate will have interviewing, research/investigating, and heavy customer service experience

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: 

-          Valid Arizona State Driver’s License

-          Bilingual in English and Spanish
