JOB SUMMARY:

The Business Service Representative will support the Employer Relations Program by promoting and marketing of Employment Services and related DES programs to employers through telephone contact and on-site visits.

JOB DUTIES: 

-          Create and establish an effective employer relations plan for the geographical area covered by the local office

-          Plan and coordinate hiring events, job fairs, and customized recruitments to employer’s job openings

-          Provide information regarding Labor Exchange (LE) program, workforce, and community partners, hiring incentives programs and regulatory compliance to employers to assist and enhance recruitment efforts

-          Develop a working relationship with area business, community organizations, and government agencies to promote Employment Services (ES) programs

-          Schedule meetings, plan agendas, obtain guest speakers, arrange space and participate as needed

-          Prepare accurate reports and records as directed; maintain employer contact records by annotating and updating information on the LE Internet system

-          Give constant attention to the development and use of communication between the Business Services Representatives and Region Managers and the Local Office ES Supervisor

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

-          Social, cultural, and economic conditions of the area(s) served

-          Specialized program knowledge in relation to employment and training

-          Federal and State Unemployment and Employment Service laws, regulations, policies and procedures to include the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment Administration and the Department of Administration

-          Local, State, and National Labor Market trends, employer community and its personnel needs, and special needs to minority groups and disadvantaged persons

Skill in:

-          Effective verbal and written communication

-          public speaking and interviewing to elicit information

-          Effective employer relations within the region and local workforce areas

-          Establishing and maintaining rapport with the employer by utilizing interpersonal communication skills and customer service techniques

Ability to:

-          Interpret rules and regulations, gather and analyze data, and relate amicably with employers, co-workers, and the general public

-          Operate office equipment such as personal computers, scanners, and fax machines

-          effectively coordinate events within the business community to promote services and match qualified applicants with current job openings

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: 

-          Must have High School Diploma or GED

-          Have a current, valid state issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employee is subject to driver’s license record checks and must maintain an acceptable driving record, valid motor vehicle insurance and registration, and must complete any required training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

-          Apply for and show proof of receipt of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card that meets Level One requirements

-          Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees

-          Be subject to a search of Child Protective Services Central Registry

-          Successfully pass background and reference checks. Employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions
