JOB SUMMARY:

This position supervises and directs the work of a unit of Case Managers and support staff whom coordinate services provided by the Division to persons with developmental disabilities. The Case Manager Supervisor conducts quality assurance reviews of cases to ensure federal and state requirements are met. This position provides first-level approval of unusual expenditure for staff, members, and/or families.

JOB DUTIES: 

-        Supervises and directs work activities of subordinate staff and provides necessary training, technical advice, and assistance to staff regarding development, implementation, or monitoring of member Individual Support Plans (ISP), and completes performance evaluations.

-        Reviews cases assigned to work unit and assesses needs and assigns cases to staff members.

-        Reviews Individual Support Plan (ISP) developed by the Support Coordinator to ensure member needs are met and ensures assignment area is completed within established time lines in compliance with quality standards.

-        Attends and facilitates meetings, including but not limited to, staff meetings, district supervisory meetings, meetings with representatives of other governmental and community organizations, and district and statewide workgroups.

-        Meets with subordinate staff to assist with identifying necessary changes and modifications to Individual Support Plans.

-        Develops support plans for the most difficult and complex cases assigned to the work unit and interviews and counsels members and family members, makes modifications to the ISP as necessary.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

-        Federal and State Statutes, agency policies and procedures relating to the care and treatment of persons with developmental disabilities.

-        Agency personnel rules and practices.

-        Title XIX.

-        Principles and practices of case management, methodology, procedures, and techniques in development of Individual Family Support Plans, Individual Service Plans, or Person-Centered Plans for people with developmental disabilities.

Skill in:

-        Oral and written communication.

-        Workload management.

-        Counseling (as used in providing advice and assistance) and interacting with members and their family/guardians.

-        Leadership, team building, listening, group facilitation, problem identification and resolution, interviewing, conducting needs assessments and interpersonal relations.

Ability to:

-        Assess the needs and determine the suitability of Individual Family Support Plans/Individual Service Plans, teaching and coaching/training.

-        Utilize a computer including the use of Microsoft Office and various internet/intranet based programs.

-        Analyze issues and develop positive solutions.

-        Supervise a unit of 6 - 8 professional staff, drive a motor vehicle, maintain confidentiality and work independently and within diverse work teams.

SELECTIVE PREFERENCE(S):

-        BA/BS in Social Science, Health Education, Education, Psychology, BSW, Health Sciences, Early Childhood Education or closely related field and 2 years professional experience working with people with developmental disabilities, OR four (4) years’ experience in case management and/or social work including two (2) years’ experience working with people with developmental disabilities, OR One (1) year as a Human Service Specialist 3, OR two (2) years’ experience as a Human Service Specialist 2.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: 

-        Have a current, valid state issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employee is subject to driver’s license record checks and must maintain an acceptable driving record, valid motor vehicle insurance and registration, and must complete any required training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

-          Apply for and show proof of receipt of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card that meets Level One requirements

-          Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees

-        Be subject to a search of Child Protective Services and Adult Protective Services Central Registry

-        Successfully pass background and reference checks.
