The Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) is seeking highly motivated individual to join our team as a Case Manager Unit Supervisor. This position will supervise and direct the work of a unit of Human Service Specialists and support staff that coordinate services provided by the Division to persons with developmental disabilities within DDD.



-          Supervising and directing the work activities of subordinate staff, and providing necessary training

-          Providing technical advice and assistance to staff regarding development, implementation or monitoring of member Individual Support Plans (ISP), and completes performance evaluations

-          Reviewing cases assigned to work unit; assess needs and assigns case to staff members

-          Reviewing Individual Support Plan developed by Support Coordinator to ensure member needs are met, and ensures assignments area completed within established time lines in compliance with quality standards

-          Attending and facilitating meetings, meeting with subordinate staff, and completing special projects as assigned



Knowledge of:

-          Knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)

-          Knowledge of Federal and State Statutes, agency policies and procedures

-          Familiar with community resources, medical and behavioral health issues and terminology

Skill in:

-          Counseling (as used in providing advice and assistance) and interacting with members and family members

-          Effective verbal and written communication, and leadership skills

-          Problem identification and resolution

Ability to:

-          Ability to supervise a unit of 7 - 10 professional staff

-          Analyze issues and develop positive solutions

-          Utilize a computer including the use of Microsoft Office and various internet/intranet based programs


-          A Bachelor's degree or higher in Social Science, Health Education, Education (i.e., psychology, social work, health sciences, early childhood education) degree or other closely related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities at the professional level; OR four (4) years of case management/social work experience at the professional level which must include two (2) years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities; OR  one (1) year as a Human Service Specialist 3 in Arizona State Government; OR two (2) years as a Human Service Specialist 2 in Arizona State Government

-          Possess an active and valid driver’s license with 5 or fewer points on driving record


-          Have a current, valid state issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employee is subject to driver’s license record checks and must maintain an acceptable driving record, valid motor vehicle insurance and registration, and must complete any required training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12)

-          Apply for and show proof of receipt of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card that meets Level One requirements

-          Candidates for this position shall be subject to a search of both the Child Protective Services Central Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 8-804 and the Adult Protective Services Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 46-459  

-          Successfully pass background and reference checks. Employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions
