JOB SUMMARY:

The Division of Child Support Services (DCSS) Case Manager provides services to custodial and non-custodial parents to establish paternity, establish orders, review orders for modification based on economic circumstances, and enforces orders for support. This position is responsible for the quality and timeliness of work products, customer service, and effectiveness in provision of child support services to clients, absent parents, state agencies and judicial entities. 

JOB DUTIES: 

-          Performs the full-range of duties associated with child support activities related to case intake and assessment; location of absent parties to a case; establishes paternity; determines appropriate legal actions to be initiated

-          Interviews individuals who are parties to the case; collects pertinent documents and information; drafts correspondence

-          Establishes and enforces child support orders; collects child support for distribution to the applicant or state

-          Prepares and files pleadings for court actions (e.g. contempt petitions, wage assignments, satisfaction of judgments, etc.); reviews for fraud, non-cooperation; reviews cases for closure

-          Assists in training and providing technical assistance to peers and subordinate level staff

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

-          Case management principles and techniques

-          Legal documents and procedures applicable to child support enforcement activities

-          Court and legal system processes related to child support enforcement

-          Excellent oral and written communications techniques to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with a diverse group (clients, co-workers, attorneys, and other court and legal system staff)

Skill in:

-          Maintaining and organizing a caseload

-          Using automated information and case management systems

-          Using interviewing techniques to obtain needed information

-          Analyzing and interpreting information and data

-          Collecting or recovering expenses, repayment, fees or obligations

Ability to:

-          Learn selected automated systems, the Arizona Child Support Services case management system, manual and automated enforcement tools and interfacing databases

-          Multi-task and thrive in a fast paced, performance driven environment

-          Meet performance measures and data reliability goals

-          Maintain a current, valid state issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment

SELECTIVE PREFERENCE(S):

-          Candidates with at least 2 years of case management experience are desirable

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: 

-          Valid Arizona State Driver’s License
