Responsibilities

The Human Resources Administration Office (HRA) is seeking Classification and Compensation Analyst to provide support in aligning compensation programs with business objectives to ensure consistency with programs and applicable policies and procedures. As a part of the team, this position is responsible for classification and compensation analysis, research, reports and making recommendations at a professional level. This position serves as a technical specialist in providing advice; working with the division liaisons and the Department of Administration (ADOA) on creating or revising classification specifications; reviewing submitted requests for accuracy and maintaining agency information in an automated system.  This position completes Lean reporting measures and contributes towards Lean initiatives. The Compensation Analyst participates in classification and compensation projects of varying complexity; reviews, analyzes, and evaluates positions to determine recommendations for appropriate classification, grade and salary levels; generates system reports to determine if inequities exist; consults with management to facilitate organizational function and appropriate classification placement; considers applicable Federal laws, State laws and the Personnel Rules when making recommendations. 

The candidate selected for this role will have thorough or in-depth knowledge of:

- Theories, concepts, principles and techniques of position classification; research methods and techniques; state government organization and procedures; rules and regulations that apply to classification issues; Personnel Rule interpretation and application; and Human Resources Management principles and practices.

The candidate will have strong and excellent skills of:

- Oral and written communications; producing detailed, clear and concise reports; making recommendations based on report findings and/or facts; presenting and defending recommendations; research and analytical skills to compile information from a wide variety of sources, organizing the facts and arriving at clear and logical conclusions; developing and maintaining positive working relationships with all levels inside the organization and with ADOA.

The candidate will have a demonstrated ability to:

- Participate in Lean initiatives, learn Lean reporting, pilot new programs and establish best practices; HRIS, Visio and other computer systems; communicate effectively with all levels of the organization; and use math and basic algebra to evaluate compensation data or other statistical data.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

- Ideal/Preferred Candidate will have three years of professional Human Resources work; or a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or a related field; or professional certification in the areas of Human Resources or Compensation.
