JOB SUMMARY:

The Division of Developmental Disability is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Compliance Specialist.  This position assists in monitoring and auditing activities including investigations and has a thorough understanding of regulations, laws, and ethics.  This position will focus on the operational compliance of the Division of Developmental Disabilities and contract requirements with Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS).

JOB DUTIES: 

-          Participate in a variety of auditing activities to ensure the Division is in compliance. Analyze, track and trend data obtained from various auditing activities.

-          Provide technical assistance to Division staff and subcontractors regarding a variety of Arizona Long Term Care System (ALTCS)/AHCCCS (Medicaid) requirements.

-          Organize and coordinate communication and activities for the Division and Districts for the purpose of identifying, resolving, and monitoring issues.  Draft written documents, reports, and responses to issues, as necessary.

-          Facilitate and/or represent the Compliance Unit on committees and special projects both internal and external to the Division.  Participate in the development of policies, procedures, guidelines and training to ensure compliance with the AHCCCS/ALTCS contract.

-          Review and make recommendations on behalf of the Division regarding health plan requests related to member information, marketing, and advertising.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

-          Federal Medicaid regulations and Division policies, procedures, and guidelines.

-          Managed care principles and delivery systems and acute and long-term care principles.

-          AHCCCS statutes, rules, policies, and contract requirements.

-          Program designs for individuals with developmental disabilities and the organizational relationship of the Division to member/families, Administrative. Services Subcontract (AdSS), subcontracted provider network and service provision.

Skill in:

-          Oral and written communication, planning, organizing, prioritizing, and time management.

-          Applying critical thinking techniques towards researching, analyzing, and problem solving.

-          Program planning and evaluation as they relate to compliance development.

-          Using computer software including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, Power Point or similar programming.

Ability to:

-          Work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.  Remain flexible while ensuring compliance with standards.

-          Problem solve and apply lessons to a broad array of situations; Plan, coordinate, and establish priorities; Use independent judgment and work independently.

-          Think through problem situations and manage difficult situations; Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

-          Relate in positive manner and cooperative manner with a wide variety of people; Produce recommendations specific to information presented.

SELECTIVE PREFERENCE(S):

-          The ideal/preferred candidate will have a broad range of experience in either health care or compliance.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: 

-          In-state travel required.  Have a current, valid state issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment.  Employee is subject to driver’s license record checks and must maintain and acceptable driving records, valid motor vehicle insurance and registration, and must complete any required training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12)

-          Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hire State employees

-          Successfully pass background and reference checks.  Employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions
