The Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Cook 3. Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Providing leadership, mentoring, and coaching for staff and team members.

- Completing performance appraisals, authorizes leave, and approves electronic time cards for staff.

- Preparing food using both mechanical/electrical kitchen equipment and hand tools in a safe and sanitary manner.

- Maintaining a clean and sanitary work area, cleans and sanitizes kitchen equipment.

- Developing shopping lists based on the approved menus and completes grocery shopping within the allotted budget for the facility.

- Measuring correct portions of all food items into containers in compliance with each person's specialized diet; provides input to the nutritionist specific to the special dietary need of the facility.

- Maintaining updated food and supply inventories; ensures proper storage and thawing techniques for foods.



- Knowledge of preparation of menus and recipes to ensure nutritional and palatable food

- Use and maintenance of kitchen hand tools and mechanical equipment utilizing established food sanitation practices

- Understanding and ability to prepare special therapeutic diets in a large group setting

- Knowledge and understanding of the proper temperatures to prepare, cook, cool, store and serve foods

- Industry standards for handling and preparing food in a large kitchen setting

- Knowledge and understanding of the policies and procedures utilized in a Food Services Department

- Basic mathematics and simple calculations to convert recipes to appropriate sizes

- Supervisory techniques to maintain positive working relationships with food services staff and facility staff

- Managing and operating a 16 hour per day multi-staff food service providing breakfast, lunch, and dinner

- Required at time of appointment possession of a current, valid Food Handler's Permit. The ideal candidate will have experience with food preparation
