Responsibilities

The Office of the Director (OOD) is seeking an experienced and highly motived individual to join our team as a Deputy Assistant Director. Under the general direction of the Assistant Director for the Division of Child Support Services, the Deputy Assistant Director will oversee subordinate staff and direct operations for child support programs and administrative child support enforcement actions. This position serves as a liaison to federal and state agencies, community organizations and private sector entities, while exercising high-level decision making for child support services statewide. Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Supervises administrators, managers, professionals, para-professionals and administrative staff; establishes performance standards, evaluates performance and ensures effective work flow processes.

- Provides strategic management; implements and evaluates operations; makes necessary changes and improvements.

-  Monitors the efficiency and effectiveness of the division programs, projects, grants and contracts; develops corrective action plans as needed.

- Aligns regional processes, improves production effectiveness, manages continuous process improvement.

- Leads statewide projects, programs and initiatives from inception to execution; establishes outcomes and measurable results.

-Monitors budgets, prioritizes allocation of resources; coordinates resources, communication efforts and/or service delivery across departments, businesses or organizations outside of the agency.

 

 

Qualifications

- Knowledge of personnel management, effective leadership practices and organizational management.

- Knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to child support services, including - collection methods and activity, the establishment of paternity, and establishment, modification and enforcement of child support and medical orders.

- Knowledge of child support practices and procedures within the local court system.

- Experience planning, organizing and directing a revenue generating division and its staff.

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

- Experience with the implementation of policy decisions and practices, designed to improve departmental operations and increase collections.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills; experience with public speaking.

- Experience preparing and managing a complex budget.

- Experience with assessing operational needs, establishing priorities, analyzing complex issues and implementing established operational procedures.

- Ability to prepare grant applications and reports, analyze and implement program mandates and conduct systems resource analysis and management.

 

-Selective Preference: Any degree in Business Administration, Public Administration (or related field) and 3 years of executive-level professional management or administrative experience operating a mandated revenue collection program, child support program, law enforcement or legal services or closely related social service program.
