This position is a member of the Information Technology Leadership Team, reporting to the Department of Economic Security, Division of Technology Services, (DTS), Assistant Director/Chief Information Officer.  This Division spans the full spectrum of IT support for an agency with dozens of lines of business, approximately 8,000 staff and $4.1 billion in annual expenditures. The Division's major functions include, strategic planning, customer engagement and support, end-user service delivery for devices and services, help desk, PC maintenance, etc., operations, planning and management of all infrastructure such as networking, servers, storage and data center, development and maintenance of over 100 applications, enterprise program/project management, enterprise architecture and standards and modernization of existing technology. This is a complex environment that requires a leader who understands how the components work together for improvement of processes. The Deputy Chief Information Officer will provide 'informed leadership' with a combination of functional expertise, leading people, and managing change.  This position is responsible for the overall rhythm of the business, business reviews and oversees the day-to-day business activities.


-          Responsible for Responsible for strategic, planning and deployment, project management, customer integration and communication, business management, Arizona Management System deployment

-          Provides leadership to Administrators and Senior Managers on complex business intelligence and IT initiatives. Participates as a member of the executive team for strategic planning

-          Coordinates, manages, and oversees compliance with applicable statutes, policies and practices

-          Manages, coaches, and mentors lower-level staff

-          Provides input and recommendations into federal rule making or other policy making activities

-          Directs studies, assessments, and evaluations of data collection and management

-          Manages and oversees information/data management for activities

-          Participates in data governance activities

-         Contemporary hardware software technologies, services trends and strategies for continuous improvement

-         Obtain and maintain and Arizona Level One Clearance card and Arizona Driver licenses appropriate to the assignment


-          Have a current, valid state issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment.  Employee is subject to driver’s license record checks and must maintain an acceptable driving record, valid motor vehicle insurance and registration, and must complete any required training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12)

-          Apply for and show proof of receipt of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card that meets Level One requirements

-          Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees

-          Successfully pass background and reference checks. Employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions
