The Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) is seeking an experience and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Direct Support Professional (Direct Care). This position requires a caring individual to assist members who have Developmental Disabilities (i.e., autism, cerebral palsy, intellectual disability or epilepsy) ranging from moderate to severe.


-          Encourages and involves members with developmental disabilities in recreational activities available at home or in the community during leisure time

-          Communicate (verbal and/or written), reads, writes and follows directions; implements Individual Service Plans (ISP) programs and strategies, collects and records data   

-          Administers, orders and stores medications of members according to doctor's orders

-          Prepares, cooks, sets up, serves and assists members with developmental disabilities in eating meals; encourages member participation in meal-time process and ensures nutritional requirements are met

-          Completes general housekeeping duties as assigned  


Knowledge of:

-          Planning processes

-          Providing personal care

-          Human rights

-          Cleaning and basic housekeeping

Skill in:

-          Planning activities designed to meet specific needs of individual members

-          reference.

-          Time and work management

-          Participating in and implementing Individual Support Plans

-          Using a computer, including email

Ability to:

-          Display compassion with respect to others

-          Attend staff training

-          Apply the basic principles of program training and data collection designed to meet the specific needs of members including medication administration

-          Learn and use nutritional principles and special mealtime techniques

-          Learn and apply behavior support techniques


-          Must be 18 years of age to apply

-          Willing to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and change work locations, when necessary

-           Read and write English


-          Have a current, valid state issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employee is subject to driver’s license record checks and must maintain an acceptable driving record, valid motor vehicle insurance and registration, and must complete any required training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12)

-          Employee shall have a valid level one fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-2758.07 to be able to work with children and vulnerable adults

-          Candidates for this position shall be subject to a search of both the Child Protective Services Central Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 8-804 and the Adult Protective Services Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 46-459

-          Successfully pass background and reference checks. Employment is contingent upon completion of a post-offer medical/physical examination and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
