JOB SUMMARY:

The Employment Services Supervisor will provide direct oversight of staff that provides direct client services to job seekers. This position will plan and coordinate daily work assignments, and provide direction and instruction to staff to ensure efficient operation of the Employment Services programs. The Employment Services Supervisor will monitor staff performance and implement procedures to ensure office operations are efficient and effective. This position will operate within the [email protected] system and work collaboratively with system partners towards common goals and objectives.

 

JOB DUTIES: 

-          Supervise and evaluate the daily activities of staff in an independent, full-service office

-          Monitors productivity and procedures to ensure the Employment Service program and Reemployment Services Program are operated in compliance with the Department of Labor, State, and Administration rules, laws, and regulations, and mandated goals

-          Responsible for the delivery of employment services to the public and business community within the Workforce Development System

-          Recommend disciplinary personnel actions, hire and train staff, authorize payroll, time sheets, travel vouchers, leave and training requests and conduct performance evaluations

-          Provides instruction, determines solutions in assigned program area and provides technical assistance and direction

-          Prepares reports, develops action plans to correct deficiencies, and maintain relationships with community resources to coordinate program services

-          Confer with program management officials, travel to attend management meetings and training, represents the Agency in a variety of meetings, and delivers program presentation to groups

-          Build and manage relationships within the workforce delivery system

-          Maintain direct and responsive communications with partners/stakeholders

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

-          Department of Labor (DOL), Department of Economic Security (DES), and Employment Administration (EA) laws, regulations, policies and procedures

-          Arizona Department of Administration personnel rules and regulations, policies, and procedures; labor market and knowledge of Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA) partner programs

-          Social, cultural and economic conditions of the area(s) served and specialized program knowledge in relation to employment and training

-          Employer community and workforce needs, social needs to minority groups and disadvantaged persons

 

Skill in:

-          Leadership, analytical evaluation and decision making, problem identification and resolution; interpersonal, written and verbal communication, building positive working relationships

-          Developing and implementing policies and procedures and public speaking

 

Ability to:

-          Manage information systems to operate, evaluate, and develop corrective actions on Employment Service programs

-          Direct the activities of a professional staff engaged in delivering employment program services

-          Resolve issues, provide technical assistance to staff; access, reviews, and interpret database information and formulate plan for improvement

-          Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, state and federal officials and all members of the public

 

SELECTIVE PREFERENCE(S):

-          Four years of public contact or customer service work experience which includes one year of interviewing, evaluation and determining customer eligibility. College level courses applicable toward business administration and management or closely related field.

-          Minimum of one year of supervisory /leadership experience.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: 

-          Have a current, valid state issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employee is subject to driver’s license record checks and must maintain an acceptable driving record, valid motor vehicle insurance and registration, and must complete any required training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12

-          Apply for and show proof of receipt of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card that meets Level One requirements

-          Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees

-          Successfully pass background and reference checks. Employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions

-          High School Diploma or equivalent
