Exchange Administrator

The Exchange Administrator will provide the day to day support for the Exchange 2013 Enterprise system and Lync 2013 system that DES utilizes. This will include monitoring utilization, storage, processing, and queues to insure that electronic messaging is functioning as expected. Participate in planning, documentation, and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure applications are consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. Review and deploy new application patches and software updates.


-        Coordination and communication of problem solving requirements to internal and external organizations; taking phone repair call and dispatching Service Desk tickets to appropriate technicians and/or vendors

-        Analyze and diagnose problems from monitors, dumps and other available information. Monitors and reports server performance and utilization data and summarizes for reporting

-        Ensuring Service Desk tickets have required information to be dispatched out; continually updating ticket status in Service Desk, communicating status till resolved

-        Document server builds, disaster recovery procedures, unit policies/procedures, hardware and software installation, maintenance and repair procedures

-        Review server audit logs for inappropriate uses; reviews server security configurations for questionable or inappropriate authorizations and permissions

-        Responsible for email notification to appropriate groups on system outages and assigning Service Desk ticket to appropriate program for solutions and other duties as assigned.



Knowledge of:

-        Principles, capabilities and operations of network and communications devices such as servers, routers, intelligent hubs, gateways, and backbones

-        Server management and monitoring: backups, archival, recovery, security, virus protection, software distribution, version control, network performance, network configuration, optimization, and integration

-        Microsoft Windows Server and Office products


Skill in:

-        Network planning and implementation

-        Establishing and maintaining working relationships

-        Troubleshooting

Ability to:

-        Analyze dumps, both system and application, and proved information to resolve problem

-        Analyze the complex interaction between hardware and software at multiple levels

-        Gather requirements within LAN/WAN/Internet networks

-        Understand the complicated integration of hardware and software components to effectively analyze, evaluate, draw logical conclusions and solve complex network problems


-        Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP)

-        Exchange 2010/2013

-        Lync 2010/2013


- Have a current, valid state issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employee is subject to driver’s license record checks and must maintain an acceptable driving record, valid motor vehicle insurance and registration, and must complete any required training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

- Apply for and show proof of receipt of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card that meets Level One requirements

- Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees

- Successfully pass background and reference checks. Employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions
