Housekeeping Attendant

Division of Developmental Disabilities

This position is responsible for daily cleaning of several large buildings that are work sites or provide support services for the individuals with intellectual disabilities.


-          Cleaning carpets, waxing floors, and disinfecting floors

-          Making beds

-          Dusting furniture, wall décor, ledges, desks, sills, light fixtures, etc.

-          Proper mixing and use of chemicals

-          Monitoring and ordering supplies

-          Report building damage and faulty equipment



Knowledge of:

-          Proper use and maintenance of various cleaning equipment, such as but not limited to floor machines, vacuums, carpet cleaners, waxing machines, and buffers

-          Cleaning procedures

-          Infection control principles

-          Safety procedures for various tasks and use of equipment, and types of stains


Skills in:

-          Read and write in English

-          Understand and follow spoken and written directions

-          Communicate with staff

-          Report sanitation issues

-          Learn and perform proper lifting techniques

-          Learn and follow sanitary and safety standards relating to disease and infection control

-          Learn and use computer systems (e.g., timesheet entry, computer based trainings)

-          Be self-motivated




Ability to:

-          Understand verbal and written instructions

-          Function independently

-          Lift and carry cleaning equipment

-          Operate floor machines and vacuums



-          Successfully pass background and reference checks. Employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability reasonably accommodate any restrictions

-          Successfully complete Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees

-          Employee shall have a valid level one fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-2758.07 to work with children and vulnerable adults
