The Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services (DERS) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as an Administrative Service Officer I. Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Reviewing and approves personnel actions; utilizes OnBase to track and record personnel related documents.

- Provides guidance to DERS management including Program Administrators, Program Managers and Supervisor relating to personnel actions such as staffing, hiring, benefits, FMLA, employee valuations, payroll issues.

- Provides guidance relating to disciplinary actions and/or corrective actions; investigates and responds to EEOC/OEO requests for information and General and Grievances on behalf of the DERS Assistant Director.

- Assists in the development of personnel related policy and procedures; conducts special studies; coordinates special projects; recommends changes to correct operating deficiencies or to improve the services to the public; prepares a variety of administrative reports.

- Interpret rules, regulations and policy; coordinates activities with other organization units of the agency.

- Assist in ensuring division compliance with clearance card by fingerprinting staff, tracking and processing clearance cred documents, if appropriate.

- Attends conferences, seminars and routine staff meetings.



- Knowledge of ADOA rules and DES policies, procedures and guidelines. Arizona Revised Statutes as related to State service employment.

- Knowledge of DES performance appraisal system, DES mission, values and organizational structure.

- Knowledge of EEOC process, FMLA, FLSA process, procedures, guidelines and other employment related laws. Knowledge of progressive discipline process.

- Skills in establishing and maintaining effective interpersonal relationships

- Excellent organizational, research, fact finding, investigative practices, analytical, written and oral communication skills.

- Ability to plan and make independent decisions, establish priorities and set own work agenda.

- Ability to review issues and make well reasoned and fully supportive recommendations; Ability to be unbiased, objective and thorough when working with employee relations issues or conducting investigations. Able to maintain sensitive and confidential information.

- Ability to perform multi-task assignments and adapt to changes quickly.
