The Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services (DERS) is seeking an individual to join our team as a Human Service Specialist 2. Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Complete needs assessment and interview applications to determine eligibility for child care services

- Maintain caseload, make changes, and re-determine eligibility at least every 6 months

- Use multiple automated computer systems to authorize client services, input, update, retrieve and send confidential client information to other Department staff and programs

- Counsel clients about availability of relatives as child care providers, determine eligibility and gather information to support relative provider registration process

- Document and report errors in authorizations/payment, calculate and complete over-payment reports, and complete investigation request on potential fraud cases

- Research and prepare case histories and represent the department at fair hearings, and complete subsequent case actions as required by the Office of Appeals

- Mediate billing and payment issues between clients and third party providers, and ensure accountability and accuracy of payments for services rendered



- Knowledge of federal laws and rules pertaining to child care eligibility, child care provider and community programs, and resources which may be of help to clients and providers

- Knowledge of methods and techniques used for effective case management including time management, priority setting and policy controls

- Knowledge regarding how to operate automated equipment and how to navigate through multiple computer systems

- Skill in mediating, prioritizing and organizing case management activities, conducting interviews, listening skills, and eliciting information needed

- Skill in giving oral presentations, diffusing angry or hostile customers, and operating multiple computer systems

- Ability to interpret and assimilate large quantities of technical written material and elicit data from a variety of sources

- Ability to exercise sound judgment within broad established guidelines

- Travel will be required to assist other offices, and attend meetings and trainings
