Division of Technology Services (DTS) is recruiting for an Information Security Specialist to join the Information Risk Management (IRM) Administration.  The Information Security Analyst manages security, policies, and procedures for the Department’s automated systems, while maintaining confidentiality, integrity, and availability in accordance with established security regulations.


This position is responsible for security-related projects requiring technical analysis and design capabilities, and provides solutions spanning several platforms using multiple languages in the client server, multi-tier or multi-server environment. This position conducts security-related audits and assessments and communicates security exposures and safeguards to the management team.

This position is a customer-centric roll responsible for responding to requests for services and assistance, as well as, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency



-          Performs fault isolation by validating, isolating, and correcting faults, and verifying service restoral with customers

-          Processes documents and coordinates resolution of trouble calls with help desk.

-          Monitors logs and manages user accounts for Division of Business and the Office of the Director.

-          Recommends and develops changes to agency policy and procedures.

-          Identifies opportunities for use of solutions to improve efficiency and reduce waste.



Knowledge of:

-          Information security technologies in the areas of risk assessment, compliance, and vulnerability management; applicable mainframe operations, applications and operating systems

-          Data security policies and procedures and development of such policy and procedures.


Skill in:

-          Writing/technical documentation

-          Building strong business relations, collaborating in teams and across organizations

-          Synthesizing feedback and adjust plans accordingly

-          Responding to customer needs

-          Prioritizing and planning

Ability to:

-          Perform Security Account Management actions by reviewing, analyzing and granting access upon request

-          Processing System access requests and Data sharing agreements

-          Manage mainframe accounts by reviewing, deleting and creating accounts

-          Process, document and coordinate resolution of trouble calls with the help



-          The ideal preferred candidate will have experience in information technology system security and/or experience in data security


-          The selected candidate will be required to undergo a criminal history investigation. 

-          Applicants for this position will be required to apply for and show proof of receipt of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card that meets DES requirements for a Level One card.

-          Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment.  Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.)
