This position supervises the Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services Data Security Unit. The Information Security Supervisor will establish schedules, setting priorities, providing support/ direction and dealing with administrative issues as needed. Leads planning, organizing and coordinating complex technical activities. Trains staff on operational procedures and data security access and data sharing agreement request procedures. Coaches team members on performance and completes employee performance evaluations.


-          Manage the Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services Security staff ensuring adequate support for both internal and external customers

-          Provide leadership and support to the data sharing agreement team.

-          Collaborate with other Supervisors across DES security teams to meet IT Initiatives

-          Request, coordinate, and provide ongoing customer support and training

-          Implement problem solving skills in variable situations requiring analytical, interpretive, evaluative, and/or constructive thinking within broadly defined policies and objectives.

-          Interpreting and enforcing information security policies, procedures, and security related to automated system access and usage.

-          Maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information, in compliance with State and Federal Security Regulations, and (with emphasis for this specific position) researching, negotiating, developing and processing data sharing agreements for the Reemployment Assistance Administration, Workforce Development Administration,  Employer Engagement Administration, Child Care Administration and the Rehabilitation Services Administration. Thorough knowledge of service offerings, customer service principles and processes, back-office server applications, desktop application, web-based applications, client/server applications, computer/networking hardware, standard operating systems, common third-party software applications, application integrations, networking protocols, and any other computer-related technologies.

-          Strong customer service skills.

-          Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

-          Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

-          Demonstrated ability to evaluate and test emerging technologies  

-          Demonstrate ability to supervise small to medium teams

-          Demonstrate ability to resolve incidents/problems efficiently and effectively, recognizing customers' competence levels, and able to approach each level appropriately



Bachelor’s degree and 3 or more years experience in a related Information Security field.


-          Apply for and show proof of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card that meets Level One requirements

-          Driving is required; individuals may be required to use their personal motor vehicle

-          A current, valid state issued driver’s license; employee is subject to driver’s license record checks and must maintain an acceptable driving record, valid motor vehicle insurance and registration and complete any required training (see Arizona administrative code R2-10-207.12)

-          Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired state employees

-          Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions
