JOB SUMMARY:

This position provides agency level coordination of the agency’s Lean Management System, the Arizona Management System (AMS) and Lean projects. Coaches and mentors agency leadership toward a continuous improvement culture that fosters daily improvement involving all team members.

JOB DUTIES: 

-          Demonstrates strong understanding of Lean/AMS elements, principles, standards and coach leaders on how they are applied in daily management.

-          Develops and demonstrates advanced problem solving capabilities.

-          Coaches and mentors leaders at all level efforts in problem solving through use of open questioning methodology.

-          Utilizes a broad knowledge of the Divisions to identify areas for Kaizen events.

-          Assists teams with prioritizing improvement and making recommendations to Division leaders.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

-          Lean Management methodologies and practices (Value Stream mapping, Kaizen, PDCA cycle, problem solving, 5S+, standard work).

-          Governmental organizational structures, including the principles and practices of public administration.

-          Statistical concepts.

-          Techniques and principles of systems analysis design modification, project management, process improvement modeling, and research techniques.

Skill in:

-          Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.

-          Expressing ideas and information concisely with all levels of the organization.

-          Establishing, developing and maintaining a positive and productive relationship with individuals that may have conflicting goals.

-          Leveraging influence to find consensus and buy-in for effective solutions.

-          Innovation, creative thinking and self-motivation.

-          Project Management.

Ability to:

-          Balance the needs of multiple stakeholders and shareholders.

-          Facilitate Kaizen events with cross-functional teams.

-          Advise colleagues on Lean processes, including practical application and analysis tools.

-          Identify opportunities for improvement and approach management with recommendations.

-          Problem solve, considering all potential outcomes for each potential solution and recommend the solution that best fits the agency, it’s shareholders and stakeholders needs.

-          Manage, coach and mentor team members.

SELECTIVE PREFERENCE(S):

-          The ideal/preferred candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree and have experience in delivering training, change management and coaching on continuous improvement tools and principles.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: 

-          Have a current, valid state issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employee is subject to driver’s license record checks and must maintain an acceptable driving record, valid motor vehicle insurance and registration, and must complete any required training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

-          Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees. 

-          Successfully pass background and reference checks. Employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
