JOB SUMMARY:

The Training Officer I position is responsible for providing instructor-led training on employee development throughout the State.  The Training Officer I teaches courses that focus primarily on employees, rather than management.  In addition, the Training Officer I assists with other projects as requested by the by the Operations Training Manager.

JOB DUTIES: 

-          Prepares to present training classes, including learning new materials, attending Train the Trainer workshops, gathering materials, traveling to class sites; setting up training facilities, etc.   

-          Perform routine administrative tasks for own work, including, but not limited to, status reports, project plans, correspondence; attend meetings; serve on committees and teams.

-          Attends training and professional development classes/workshops; serve on committees/work-groups.  In-state travel to meetings may be required. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

-          Computers (Microsoft Office products).

-          Audio Visual Equipment usage (to include set up, use, breakdown and troubleshooting).

-          Adult Learning Principles.

-          Learning Management Systems (data tracking & reporting principles).

-          Federal & State Laws, Regulations, Policies & Procedures.

-          Project Planning concepts and practices.

-          Instructional Systems Design.

-          Collaboration and social media platforms (e.g., SharePoint).

Skill in:

-          Training Delivery to include classroom management.

-          Interpersonal relations.

-          Oral & Written Communication (writing/Composition).

-          Training related technologies: Learning Management Systems.

-          Reporting and problem solving.

-          Scheduling/Tracking.

Ability to:

-          Be Adaptable (maintaining effectiveness when experiencing major changes to work tasks or work environment).

-          Customer Focus (making customers and their needs a primary focus).

-          Initiative (takes prompt action to accomplish objectives).

-          Time Management (one' time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently).

-          Work Standards (Sets high standards of performance for self).

-          Coaching: Timely guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skills.

SELECTIVE PREFERENCE(S):

-          Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, a social or behavioral science or other acceptable field of study from an accredited college or university and one year experience in training.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: 

-          Have a current, valid state issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employee is subject to driver’s license record checks and must maintain an acceptable driving record, valid motor vehicle insurance and registration, and must complete any required training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

-          Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees.

-          Successfully pass background and reference checks. Employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
