Operations Specialist

This position is responsible for data entry of business operations, related requisitions, and receivers for all Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services (DERS) pr ograms. This position ensures timely and accurate ordering of goods and services, and ensures the needs of the customer are met with excellent customer service and effective communication.


-          Enter requisitions and receiver for authorized request for good and services for DERS programs

-          Communicate with vendors and requesters to ensure accuracy of items ordered and received

-          Make hotel reservations for DERS employees needing lodging for approved state business

-          Enter data into spreadsheets and databases for tracking purposes and run reports as needed

-          Drive DERS Administration state owned vehicles to and from ADOA for scheduled maintenance or repairs


Knowledge of:

-          General principles and practices of administration and management

-          Agency or program rules, regulations and procedures pertaining to business operations

-          Computers and software programs

Skill in:

-          Entering information quickly and accurately into a computer system

-          Working with spreadsheets and database

-          Oral and written communication

Ability to:

-          Plan, analyze, organize, and coordinate activities and establish priorities

-          Work under pressure with often changing priorities


-          Three years of responsible administrative experience in such fields as purchasing, budget analysis, accounting, data processing or related administrative services work


-          Have a current, valid state issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employee is subject to driver’s license record checks and must maintain an acceptable driving record, valid motor vehicle insurance and registration, and must complete any required training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

-          Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees

-          Successfully pass background and reference checks. Employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions
