The Office of the Director (OOD) and the Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services (DERS) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team. This position handles human resource functions and ensures actions adhere to all departmental policies and procedures. Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Provides technical assistance, guidance and recommendations to DERS Assistant Directors and Administrators regarding various general and sensitive employee matters, (i.e., benefits, staffing, etc.)

- Supervises staff and oversees the day to day operations, processing all personnel actions to include pre-hire, new hire, promotions, special assignments and maintains the divisions personnel files

- Provides oversight on classification and compensation actions and all employee appraisal activities

- Conducts statewide training for management, supervisors and employees for human resources (HR) related actions including general personnel processing, hiring guidelines, and employee evaluations

- Researches and prepares various administrative and technical reports and oversees division compliance with clearance card processes



- Knowledge of policies, procedures and guidelines in relation to employment; recruiting/staffing processes and human resources

- Knowledge of Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and other employment related laws

- Communicate effectively orally and in writing

- Researching, fact finding and investigative practices

- Review issues and make well-reasoned and fully supportive recommendations

- Ability to be unbiased, objective and thorough when working with employee relation issues

- Maintain sensitive and confidential information

- Adapt to changes quickly and the ability multi-task

- Establish and maintain effective interpersonal relations

- Supervising the work of a unit professional, paraprofessional and/or support staff in such areas as recruitment and selection, training, classification/compensation and other related areas
