Responsibilities

The Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Prior Authorization Nurse. This position collects year-long data for compilation of quarterly/annual reports according to established procedures.  Attends meetings, staffing’s, classes, trainings, and seminars related to various work assignments; disseminates helpful medical direction to others in the work unit. Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Obtains requests for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) transportation, medical appointments, hospitalizations and medical supplies.

- Evaluates and validates documentation and reports.

- Prepares documentation for medical review to the Medical Director.

- Attends meetings, staffing’s, classes, trainings and seminars related to various work assignments.

 

 

Qualifications

- Current license or temporary permit to practice as registered nurse or licensed practical nurse in the State of Arizona.

- Advanced computer skills, including Word and Excel.

- A degree in Nursing.

- Minimum 3 year experience in health care delivery systems including treatment program planning and medical services assessments.

- Prior authorization and provider relations preferred.

- Have a current, valid state issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employee is subject to driver’s license record checks and must maintain an acceptable driving record, valid motor vehicle insurance and registration, and must complete any required training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

- Employee shall have a valid level one fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-2758.07 in order to work with children and vulnerable adults

- Candidates for this position shall be subject to a search of both the Child Protective Services Central Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 8-804 and the Adult Protective Services Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 46-459

- Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees

- Successfully pass background and reference checks. Employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions

- Required at time of appointment: possession of a current license or temporary permit to practice as a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse in the State of Arizona.  Within six (6) months from date of hire, must possess a current license to practice as a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse in the State of Arizona.
