The Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services (DERS) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Program and Project Specialist 2. Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Coordinating with the Department of Corrections, Workforce and other employment related partners to develop, execute and manage a state-wide, comprehensive, strategic plan that (a) identifies and prioritize the engagement of the re-entry population and employee, (b) Leverages and expands the expertise, relationships and activities of all partners

- Registering employers in AJC, Conduct effective public relations with community organizations and local chambers of commerce

- Under the [email protected] system, all the local area workforce development areas, the department of corrections, and any other partners necessary, facilitate and execute weekly hiring events, career fairs, etc. In coordination with workforce’s schedule in the various prisons, parole centers, [email protected] locations, etc.

- Receive employer’s job orders and input them into the automated internet based system, Conduct job matching and pre-screening recruitment assistance for employers.  Communicate with employers to obtain referral results, event results, etc. and accurately record results into the internet based system.

- Create, update and post employer case notes and record services provided on the Labor Exchange systems, Arizona Job Connection (AJC), etc.

- Participate in all aspects of the Arizona Management System (AMS) and align all activities with AMS continuous improvement principles and practices.

- Work inside various State Prison Employment Centers a minimum of one day a week.



- Knowledge in Correction community, DES Programs, resources, principals, practices and methodology of human services and how they are addressed in varying organizational structures.

- Skills in international relationships, community entitlement an public relations; effective communication and facilitation techniques across various cultures          

- Skills in public speaking, employer engagement, planning and implementation; effective Power Point presentations, Exec, spreadsheets, Microsoft Word

- Ability to obtain and maintain an Arizona driver’s license

- Set priorities, problem solve, organize, plan and implement hiring events, job fairs and custom employer recruitment events

- Develop positive and diverse group of employers

- Ability to travel statewide, work varied hours throughout the business week which may include weekends and evenings hours.

- In-state travel is required for this position.  This position requires possession of an ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment and meets the requirements of DES policies and procedures. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).  Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed.

- Apply for and show proof of receipt of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card that meets Level one requirements.

- Successfully pass background and reference checks.  Employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonable accommodate any restrictions
