Program Service Evaluator 1- UI Wage Auditor

This position will conduct wage audits for Unemployment Insurance (UI) claims to determine accuracy of payments made.


-          Contact employers to request information on wages earned and to clarify the purpose of wages being examined

-          Encourage and improve better communication between DES and employers by notifying the employer of the importance of responding to audit notices

-          Conduct assigned wage audits to determine accuracy of payments

-          Complete daily/monthly/weekly reports as assigned including workload status reports

-          Review UI payment history against wages reported by the claimant and/or employer to ensure proper payment was made

-          Conduct fact finding reports when requested by the claimant and process appeal decisions


Knowledge of:

-          Knowledge of eliciting information via telephone or mail to determine outcomes, and conducting comparisons to determine further action

-          Knowledge of answering high volume of calls and preparing reports to identify work assignments and completeness of cases assigned

Skill in:

-          Verbal and writing skills to express situations coherently

-          Skills in organization and time management

Ability to:

-          Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and provide excellent customer service to external customers

-          Ability to use the internet to locate employer contact information and compare documents to determine required action


-          At least one year experience in customer service handling outgoing and incoming telephone inquiries


-          High School Diploma or GED is required 

-          Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees

-          Successfully pass background and reference checks. Employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions
