JOB SUMMARY:

This position will support the delivery of direct client services to job seekers and employers. It will also enhance service delivery to internal and external customer.

JOB DUTIES: 

-          Responsible to provide a wide range of staff-assisted employment services to applicants and job seekers which includes interviewing individuals to elicit information and assess skills, knowledge, and ability, work history and interest while maintaining client confidentiality.

-          Perform job development, job matching, and placement assistance utilizing an internet based system.

-          Determine programmatic eligibility and make appropriate referrals to employer job openings, training opportunities and or supportive services when appropriate.

-          Comprehend and comply with Federal and State rules and regulations.

-          Write employer job orders.

-          Assist employers with recruitment of qualified candidates to fill their job openings.

-          Conduct follow-ups to verify and document referral results on the automated data base system.

-          Provide Labor Market Information, career guidance planning, and develop individual employment plan.

-          Conduct job search workshops and deliver program presentations at orientations.

-          Resolve customer issues and complaints; respond to customer inquiries and explain program services.

-          Prepare and submit program related activity reports to supervisor.

-          Determine eligibility for Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) program.

-          Manage assigned workload.

-          Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

-          Provide customer service to job seekers and business community; maintain positive working relationships with One-Stop Career Center Workforce partners, community organizations and other agency personnel. Interact face-to-face or by telephone with irate or difficult customers.

-          Some travel required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

-          Federal and State Employment Service laws, regulations, policies and procedures, to include U.S. Department of Labor, Employment Security Administration, Department of Administration rules, policies and procedures.

-          Working knowledge of Social, cultural and economic conditions of the area(s) served and specialized program knowledge in relation to employment and trainings.

-          Employer community and its personnel needs, special needs to minority groups and disadvantaged persons.

-          Employment Service and local office policies and procedures.

-          Interviewing techniques.

-          Occupations, occupational requirements and Impact of requirements.

-          Resources and support services in the community.

-          Computers and computer software applications.

 

Skill in:

-          Interviewing, verbal, written and interpersonal communication including public speaking and presentation skills.

-          Researching and interpreting policies and procedures.

-          Researching and interpreting policy and procedure, problem solving and decision making.

-          Gathering and analyzing data.

-          Customer Service and computer and office equipment use.

Ability to:

-          Maintain effective working relationships.

-          Relate amicably with coworkers and the public.

-          Provide quality customer service.

-          Resolve problem related issues,

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: 

-          Must have high school diploma or GED.

-          Have a current, valid state issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employee is subject to driver’s license record checks and must maintain an acceptable driving record, valid motor vehicle insurance and registration, and must complete any required training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12)

-          Successfully pass background and reference checks. Employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.

-          Apply for and show proof of receipt of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card that meets Level One requirements.

-          Must be able to obtain an AZ State Fingerprint Clearance Card.

RETIREMENT: 

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
