JOB SUMMARY:

The Rehabilitation Technician is responsible to provide potential applicants with basic overview of Vocational Rehabilitation services. Schedules and conducts initial interviews and assist clients with appointments and contacting vendors and utilizing community resources. Provides support to counselors by providing information on clients to determine eligibility and able to plan appropriate services.

JOB DUTIES: 

-          Interview applicants for intake information based of individual’s disability(s).

-          Maintains communication with clients to inform of upcoming appointments for assessments, counselor appointments and to request documentation.

-          Makes sure clients have a complete understanding of services and clarifies any issues.

-          Provide clients information regarding community organizations, private agencies and other resources to help the client achieve successful outcomes.

-          Provides support to counselor for case management making sure all documentation is complete with signatures and required information.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

-          Has knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulation regarding provision of rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities.

-          General knowledge of disabling medical conditions and available community resources.

-          Able to utilize various computer software (Microsoft Office Suite, internet applications and E-mail).

-          Be able to observe behaviors regarding possible employment and employment expectations.

-          Maintain up to date case files, assist with case load management and data entry

-          Capable of problem solving, decision making and have great written and verbal communication

 

SELECTIVE PREFERENCE(S):

-          Rehabilitation Tech CORE Training

-          Specific disabilities trainings: Traumatic Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, Serious Mental Illness.

-          Experience/Education

            -Associates of Arts/Science or Applied Sciences in a discipline related to human services; or 21 semesters hours in a discipline related to human services.

            -Or High School diploma or GED and two years’ work experience in a vocational rehabilitation or independent living program.

            -Or three years’ experience in an organized program providing services to individuals with disabilities.

-          Completion of a certified program in disability awareness, social services, substance abuse or other behavioral services field from accredited college substitutes for one year of experience.

 

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: 

-          Apply for and show proof of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card that meets Level One requirements

-          Driving is required; individuals may be required to use their personal motor vehicle

-          A current, valid state issued driver’s license; employee is subject to driver’s license record checks and must maintain an acceptable driving record, valid motor vehicle insurance and registration and complete any required training (see Arizona administrative code R2-10-207.12)

-          Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired state employees

-          Be subject to a search of the Child Protective Services Central Registry and the Adult Protective Services Registry

-          Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
