JOB SUMMARY:

The Division of Developmental Disabilities’ (DDD) Senior Investigator is responsible for conducting the most urgent Level (One) 1 and Level (Two) 2 incident investigations and complete reports including recommendations regarding corrective action within mandated timelines.

JOB DUTIES: 

-          Conducts most urgent internal Level 1 and Level 2 incident investigations and completes reports including recommendations regarding corrective action which meet Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) standards

-          Interviews all involved and relevant parties, if other agencies are involved, coordinates and conducts investigation efforts with these entities as assigned by the supervisor

-          Writes and submits clear, concise and logical quality investigative reports within five (5) day CMS requirement; ensures corrective actions are documented and completed according to the investigative report recommendations

-          Serves as team leader to Statewide staff who have completed certified investigations training and are conducting Level 1, 2 or 3 investigations

-          Acts as a back-up to the State Operations Incident Coordinator entering incident reports into the Incident Management System (IMS)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

-          Investigation methods

-          Preponderance of evidence to determine recommendations

-          Federal, State and agency laws, rules, regulations and policies governing Intermediate Care Facility (ICF)/ Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (IID) and Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) requirements

-          Interviewing techniques

-          Records searching/review

Skill in:

-          Oral and written communication

-          Maintaining and updating database files

-          Working with material of a technical and/or confidential nature

-          Dealing with the public using appropriate tact and resourcefulness

-          Compile, organize, analyze and interpret data and information into report formats

-          Leading others

Ability to:

-          Write, summarize and produce difficult and complex report concisely

-          Use various computer software applications (Word, Excel, Database systems, etc.)

-          Assist with timely project, reports, memos, etc.

-          Learn, interpret and apply federal, state, department and division programs, policies and procedures

-          Drive a vehicle

SELECTIVE PREFERENCE(S):

-          The ideal candidate will have Four (4) years experience in conducting investigations

-          One (1) year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or a vulnerable population is preferred

-          Experience in utilizing various computer programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Database systems, etc.) is desired

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
