The Division of Technology Services (DTS) is seeking a Senior / Lead Applications Developer to join the Development Administration team. You will be responsible for providing support for the DERS UI/EA web applications. This position will provide valuable technical expertise for planning, developing, and establishing objectives necessary for automation projects. This position will mentor junior developers, project future IT needs, analyze and develop alternatives, and recommend solutions to management.  Additionally, this position will communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner to technical and non-technical users and staff, as well as producing technical documentation, designs, plans and architectural diagrams.

 The candidate selected for this role will have thorough or in-depth knowledge of:

- Multiple programming languages, multiple database management systems, multiple development platforms, and systems integration

- Responds promptly to customer needs; takes a customer-centric approach to problem solving; solicits customer feedback to improve service; responds to requests for service and assistance; meets commitments; manages difficult or emotional customer situations

- Focuses on solving conflict; maintains confidentiality; listens to others without interrupting; keeps emotions under control; remains open to others' ideas and tries new things

- Works independently; occasionally participates in reviews of assigned and completed tasks

- Reviews and recommends equipment, resources and software; may assist with development or preparation of department level budget; may initiate purchasing             

- Identifies required resources; trains, schedules and monitors resources; may participate in hiring

- Prioritizes and plans work activities; sets goals and objectives; uses time efficiently; communicates activities and results as appropriate

The candidate will have the necessary skills to:

- Identify opportunities for use of solutions to improve efficiency and reduce waste          

- Lead initiatives to develop solutions and processes to meet needs; identifies unique innovative approaches                                   

- Strong customer service skills                                 

- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills

The candidate will have a demonstrated ability to:

- Balance, prioritize and organize multiple tasks

- Work collaboratively in teams and across organizations

- Synthesize feedback and adjust plans accordingly

- Build strong relationships inside and outside the organization

- Develop and write technical documentation

- Quickly learn and develop in new programming languages, APIs, and platforms

- Evaluate and test emerging technologies

­- Apply creative solutions to business problems to ensure business needs are most effectively met 

Qualifications

- Knowledge of Agile Methodologies and ceremonies
