Senior NOC Technician

Position serves as a lead/senior position located in the NOC. Provides prompt escalation of application/system problems including assisting in determining root cause of problem through to appropriate solution. Responsible for creating, developing, planning, administration of alerts for all network and hardware within Solarwinds. Identifies and analyzes network and server incidents for root cause that impact and degrade critical DES services and applications.  Solarwinds Administration:  The NOC is responsible for the administration of the DES wide monitoring too, Orion's Solarwinds. Increased knowledge of networks, and hardware within the environment is required in order to create alarms/alerts and reacting to those alarms/alerts. Saavis Portal Administration: Position works with Cyxtera to administrate all access to and from our data center which is collocated at IO Datacenter in Central Phoenix.  With this responsibility comes auditing of the access for the datacenter. Ticket generation for hosting access to our MOD and Mainframe Cage within the IO data center.


-        As lead/senior technician on the NOC team develops and maintains reports using Orion's Solarwinds and CA's Service Desk ticketing system (i.e. Outage Reports, Latency Reports etc.) Provides preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and problem resolution of the Solarwinds monitoring tool. 

-        Solarwinds administration includes creating accounts, maintaining the application with updates, modifying/updating Services and existing applications.  Develops new processes and applications to meet the needs of DES users.

-        Responsible for administration of our collocated datacenter access via the Saavis Portal.  Entry of Service Ticket for hosting events at our datacenter

-        Installs, monitors, and directs proactive and reactive computer network defense measures to ensure the availability, integrity, confidentiality and reliability of systems



Knowledge of:

-        Designing, developing and implementing Remedy Solutions and CA Service Desk using both the Out Of The Box (OOTB) and custom form features

-        Troubleshooting issues that arise in support of the Remedy ARS Application and Service Design reviews

-        Reviewing and understanding customer requirements and specifications. Write increasingly complex codes to create single-threaded or user interface event driven applications, either stand-alone or those which access servers or services

-        Developing codes necessary to complete the assigned project(s) in the specified time frame according to departmental standards, policies and guidelines

-        Identifying and reporting problems in new and existing software. Recreate reported software problems to facilitate solutions, this includes validating the fix for the software problem. Write, modify, and debug software for client applications

-        CA Service Desk Certification

-        CA Configuration Management Database Certification


- Have a current, valid state issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employee is subject to driver’s license record checks and must maintain an acceptable driving record, valid motor vehicle insurance and registration, and must complete any required training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

- Apply for and show proof of receipt of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card that meets Level One requirements

- Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees

- Successfully pass background and reference checks. Employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions
