Senior Project Manager

Division of Technology Services

This position participates in coordinating and establishing IT projects on the basis of their strategic alignment to the objectives of the Department of Economic Security (DES) and the Project Management Office (PMO).


-          Manages multiple middle to large sized projects.

-          Leads planning and/or implementation of projects.

-          Facilitates the definition of project missions, goals, tasks and resource requirements.

-          Resolves or assists in the resolution of conflicts within and between functional areas.

-          Coordinates the definition of service levels and customer requirements.

-          Manages project budget and resource allocation.


Knowledge of:

-          Theoretical and practical aspects of project management.

-          Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).

-          Leadership, team building.

-          Waterfall, AGILE and Scrum methodologies.

Skill in:

-          Oral and written communication.

-          Project management techniques.

-          Customer service.

-          Identifying opportunities and developing solutions to improve efficiency and reduce waste.

-          Leading initiatives to develop solutions and processes to meet needs and identify unique innovative approaches.

Ability to:

-          Balance, prioritize and organize multiple tasks.

-          Work collaboratively in teams and across organizations.

-          Synthesize feedback and adjust plans accordingly.

-          Develop and write technical documentation.


-          A Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of experience in project coordination and management; OR Arizona State Project Management Certification; OR Project Management Professional (PMP).


-          Have a current, valid state issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employee is subject to driver’s license record checks and must maintain an acceptable driving record, valid motor vehicle insurance and registration, and must complete any required training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

-          Apply for and show proof of receipt of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Card that meets Level One requirements.

-          Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees.

-          Successfully pass background and reference checks. Employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
