JOB SUMMARY:

Position serves as a team member and an advisor to other data center technical staff. Configuring and administering Storage Area Network (SAN) and associated components; including Fibre Channel switch administration. Provisioning and allocating storage, troubleshooting hardware and connectivity issues as well as software upgrades to the SAN environments. Assist with storage analysis, capacity planning, and performance planning of storage components

JOB DUTIES: 

-        Administers the full range of disciplines including but not limited to configuring and administering Storage Area Network (SAN) and associated components; including Fibre Channel switch administration, hardware cabling and maintenance, and virtual infrastructure storage administration

-        Provides guidance, assistance, training, and education, provisioning and allocating storage, troubleshooting hardware and connectivity issues as well as software upgrades to the SAN environments

-        Reviews configuration change proposals for compliance to established standards, guidelines and policies.

-        Assists with storage analysis, capacity planning, and performance planning of storage components

-        Performs system analysis, designs, constructs and tests infrastructure. Manages backups and replications between physical sites. Performs routine equipment checks and preventative maintenance on critical storage systems

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

-        Various infrastructure technologies and in-house developed applications utilized in the enterprise

-        Storage Area Network (SAN) and associated components

-        System analysis, designs, constructs and tests infrastructure

-        Fibre Channel switch administration

-        Hardware cabling and maintenance

Skill in:

-        Analyze software system, and network complex service flows in a virtual storage environment

-        Develop project plans related to equipment or system changes or installations

-        Monitor, measure, diagnose and trouble-shoot system problems using software/hardware devices designed for this purpose

-        Demonstrated expertise in information system configuration management

-        Leads initiatives to develop solutions to improve efficiency and reduce waste

Ability to:

-        Balance, prioritize and organize multiple tasks

-        Build strong relationships inside/outside the organization

-        Lead projects to successful completion and on time

-        Technical writing techniques/process and express technical information in both oral and written form in a clear, well organized, and grammatically correct manner to both technical and non-technical personnel to include reports, charts, graphs, and visual images

-        Install, configure, and maintain storage technologies

SELECTIVE PREFERENCE(S):

-        Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of extensive experience in systems engineering (or equivalent experience).

-        NetApp certifications and experience strongly desired

-        5 years SAN administration experience in enterprise data center environment

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: 

-        Have a current, valid state issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employee is subject to driver’s license record checks and must maintain an acceptable driving record, valid motor vehicle insurance and registration, and must complete any required training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

-        Apply for and show proof of receipt of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card that meets Level One requirements

-        Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees

-        Successfully pass background and reference checks. Employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions
