The Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services (DERS) is seeking an individual to provide services to disabled veterans and their eligible spouses. Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Interview/conduct assessments with veterans who have significant barriers to employment, in order to obtain information about job skills, education, and qualifications

- Assist in completing self-registration, identify appropriate workshops, and inform them of other services available to aid in transition into the workforce

- Develop action plan and provide career guidance, coordinate supportive services, job development, and referrals to training opportunities and job openings

- Travel to conduct outreach activities, and perform outreach to employers to promote the hiring of veterans, job development, and follow up on job referrals and hires

- Attend meetings, seminars and training sessions, and promote internal and external partnerships for job seekers/veterans


- Knowledge of basic interviewing techniques, customer service, and task management

- Knowledge of social, cultural, and economic conditions of the areas served and specialized programs in relation to employment and training

- Knowledge of employer, community, and labor market needs, workforce hiring trends, special needs, minority groups and disadvantaged persons

- Skill in writing, reading, accessing resources to refer clients, and defusing difficult client situations

- Ability to work with clients of diverse backgrounds, generate biweekly and months reports, and travel to different location within assigned area

- Must be a veteran and have a DD214 and Veterans Administration rating letter

- Must have High School Diploma or equivalent

- Have a current, valid state issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employee is subject to driver’s license record checks and must maintain an acceptable driving record, valid motor vehicle insurance and registration, and must complete any required training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

- Apply for and show proof of receipt of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card that meets Level One requirements

- Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees

- Be subject to a search of Child Protective Services Central Registry

- Successfully pass background and reference checks. Employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions
